How to Download Yahoo Messenger (YM)

For the purpose of this guide, am going to download and install yahoo messenger on my laptop. So you are going to see a step by step tutorial with pictures on how it is done. And am also going to point you in the right direction when it comes to downloading YM to your smart phones, tablets and other devices.

Let’s go!

Go to the Yahoo Messenger Official Website Here. On the center left hand side of the page you will see “Download for Windows” Click on it. If you do not have enough space on your system to download the file or you do not want to download the app, you can still use the messenger by clicking on “Go to web app” . It’s on the top – left side of your home page. There, you can still login to YM using your yahoo account details (i.e. your Username and password)

Once you click on “Download for Windows”, the yahoo messenger setup tool will appear and prompt you to save the file. Click on “Save File” to download the setup. You can save the file in any folder you choose on your system.

Once the file has finished downloading, you can go to your browser’s download list to locate it. Double click on the downloaded setup. When it opens, click on “Run”. This will upload the contents of the file to your system (at the background). This will take a few moments.

As soon as it is done, the YM platform comes up. Click on “Sign in” to enter your instant chat account. You will be required to enter your email address and password ( Example is as shown below).

As soon as you have entered your yahoo mail account details, your YM opens up for you. Here you can instantly chat with your friends, invite your contacts to join yahoo messenger, add new contacts and so much more
